5 things to take with you...

Photography is a great hobby and is fun most of the time, but sometimes things can happen so it’s always good to be prepared. If you are thinking about doing some photography outside here are 5 things you should definitely take with you...

Camera Equipment – Obviously you are going to need your camera, the right lenses for what you are shooting, spare battery and memory cards. Perhaps you might need your tripod or monopod. Flashgun. Reflector…

Water – Always take a drink with you, it’s really important to stay hydrated! Also, a tasty snack is a good idea. You might end up venturing further than you anticipated.

Weather Proof Clothing – Here in England we can have all 4 seasons in one day. Even if the weather forecast predicts no rain, take a lightweight poncho with you just in case. If you are taking your car, load it up with spare clothes and don’t forget an extra pair of socks. It’s also worth taking a towel so if your camera gets a bit wet you can wipe it dry as soon as possible.

Comfy Footwear – You will more than likely be walking and standing for part of your photography outing so I highly recommend investing in some comfortable footwear. Depending on where you will be shooting, trainers might not be a good idea, maybe hiking boots or wellies would be better.

Mobile Phone – Even if you are a fully grown, responsible adult, unfortunately, bad things happen sometimes. It’s good to have a fully charged mobile phone to hand just in case you need help. Especially if you are going somewhere on your own, it’s a good idea to install a tracking app (like Find My Friends) so friend and family can find you.

If you think I’m being over the top, watch the movie 127 hours!
